Russian Gastronomy

Russian Gastronomy

Here is a paper you have been waiting for, it is about food !

First thing to know, Russians have no regular hours to sit for lunch or dinner. They just eat whenever they find time for it, which means that sitting around the table with the family is not necessarily the rule. Another think to know is that many restaurants in Moscow and Saint Petersbourg are quite expensive with regard to their income levels

So, whenever you feel hungry , do not worry : many restaurants are open all day through, and even some are 24h non stop, mainly in Moscow . Besides, streets are lined with small market stands almost everywhere. These are providing all sorts of food such as prepared meals and meals ready to cook; it is a fast and easy way to eat well for a few rubs only !

We reached Moscow late in the evening. Therefore we were quite happy to be given a dinner of "Pelmenis" (a kind of raviolis, some with mushrooms, others with meat, delicious both of them) before going to sleep, knowing that we were supposed to get up early (or try to , at least !) next morning !

The following days, we left all ideas of diet behind us : such a variety of food, so many regions' spécials. One must not forget that Russia's surface aera is vast, so vast. So, of course, there is a huge variety of food to go with it, and even more if you add the former soviet territories specialities. We had the choice between so many dishes that we didn't know which way to turn.

We don't want our articles to be too long, therefore we will write separate notes for each speciality or régional food that we'll have tasted
